- But the bottom line is that I personally know of no one who is able to
- achieve full speed 28.8k bps performance out of their V34 modem when
- their phone line is provisioned via a SLC.

- Most often the SLC's proving most problematic are terminated into an
- analog office, such as a 1A.

- There is some thought that the line coding/framing used with
- conventional SLC implementations may be contributing to the problem.
- Most use D4/AMI. The thinking is that B8ZS/ESF, if available, would
- improve things, but there are arguments on both sides.
